“MAIN ATAL HOON” is a story about the respected Indian leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, role played by Actor Pankaj Tripathi, lives in Agra with his family. In 1938, as a young schoolboy, he cannot recite a poem in front of his class because he doesn’t remember the poem. His father (role played by Actor Piyush Mishra) advises him to try to understand the main point of his speech rather than memorizing it. This lesson becomes a important step in Atal’s life journey to becoming a great Public Speaker. He soon joins the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and becomes associated with leaders like Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (played by Pramod Pathak) and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya (played by Daya Shankar Pandey). He joins a political party, the Akhil Bharatiya Jana Sangh, and becomes a Member of Parliament in 1957. The country undergoes important changes, with the mysterious deaths of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. Atal Bihari Vajpayee decides to take matters into his own hands for the sake of his country.
Inspiration from ‘Atal Ji: Kavihradayachye Rashtranetyache Charitkatha’:
“MAIN ATAL HOON” got its idea from the book ‘Atal Ji: Kavihradayachye Rashtranetyache Charitkatha’ by Sarang Darshan. The story, written by Rishi Virmani and Ravi Jadhav, with Amol Bhor and Mayuresh Bhor helping, is interesting and could be a great true story movie. But the way they tell the story doesn’t make as much impact as they wanted. The storytelling is fast but not as good as they planned.
Ravi Jadhav’s Direction and Technical Brilliance:
Ravi Jadhav did a good job with the technical stuff in the movie MAIN ATAL HOON, making it look impressive on the big screen. Some scenes, like Atal’s romantic moments, his first speech in the Lok Sabha, and his meeting with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, turned out really well.
But, the movie makers tried to tell too many parts of the former Prime Minister’s life without going deep into each one, so it didn’t have a strong impact. Sometimes, the story felt a bit confusing. They didn’t explain what happened to Atal’s family, why he stayed single, or how Indira Gandhi came back in 1980.
Acting Performances and Character Impressions:
As for the actors, Pankaj Tripathi did a really good job. He acted with confidence, and you could believe his character. Piush Mishra did well in his short appearance, and Ekta Kaul made a lasting impression. Pramod Pathak and Daya Shankar Pandey were okay. Raja Ramesh Kumar Sevak (Lal Krishna Advani) did a good job, but he was a bit too dramatic in some scenes. Payal Nair (Indira Gandhi) was okay. Prasann Ketkar (M.S. Golwalkar), Ajay Purkar (Hedgewar), and Harsh Khatri left a good impression. Gauri Sukhtankar (Sushma Swaraj) tried hard and did well.
Technical Aspects – Music, Cinematography, and Production Design:
The songs are not easy to remember, but the background music by Monty Sharma makes the movie more interesting. Lawrence D’Cunha did a great job with the camera, making everything look good. Sandeep Ravade’s design for the sets is well thought out. Sachin Lovalekar did a good job with the costumes. However, Banti Nagi’s editing is not steady.
In conclusion, “MAIN ATAL HOON” depends a lot on Pankaj Tripathi’s great acting. But because of its problems with the story, the movie might find it hard to do well at the box office.
